7 interesting and lesser-known facts about Kunchacko Boban
Kunchacko Boban is an actor who became an overnight sensation after the release of his debut movie as a hero, Aniyathipraavu. Now he is not only an actor, but a producer too. Here we are presenting seven interesting and lesser-known facts about Kunchacko Boban.
1. He has won the Kerala state film award
Kunchacko Boban is one of the underrated actors in the Malayalam film industry. Not many of the directors have exploited his potential in acting. He has won the Special Jury Award at the Kerala State Film Awards for the movie Ee Snehatheerathu directed by Sivaprasad, father of director Sidhartha Siva. However, the movie was not a commercial success at the box office. He has delivered extraordinary performance in movies such as God For Sale and Valiya Chirakulla Pakshikal.
2. Appeared on Filmfare magazine cover page in 1999
Filmfare is a nationally recognized Bollywood magazine, thus appearing in the cover photo of that magazine is always a dream for actors. Kunchacko Boban has appeared as the cover boy of that magazine’s 1999 august edition. Later Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who acted in Bollywood movies as well, has appeared on the cover page of that magazine.
3. Essayed a historic character in Puthooramputhri Unniyarcha
Kunchacko Boban has portrayed the role of Aaromalunni in the movie Puthooramputhri Unniyarcha. Aaromalunni, son of Unniyarcha, is a character from the famous Vadakkan Pattukal. Incidentally, evergreen Malayalam actor Prem Nazir has essayed the role of Aaromalunni in the 1972 movie Aaromalunni, which was produced by the grandfather of Kunchacko Boban.
4. He has learned karate in childhood
Kunchacko Boban has learned some martial arts, especially karate, when he was young. However, he does not continue it. He also trained classical dance under Amrutham Gopinath, the one who is famous for her dialogue “kambili puthappu...” from the movie Ramji Rao Speaking directed by Siddique Lal and co-produced by Navodaya Appachan, who is the uncle of Kunchacko Boban.
5. Aniyathipraavu is not his debut movie
As everyone thinks, Aniyathipraavu is not the debut movie of Kunchacko Boban. He has appeared in the Mohanlal starrer Dhanya, which was released in 1981, as a child artist. Kunchacko Boban’s father Boban Kunchacko has produced the movie Dhanya. The movie is directed Fazil, who later directed Aniyathipraavu.
6. Who dubbed for Kunchacko Boban in Aniyathipraavu?
Kunchacko Boban has not dubbed himself in his debut movie as a hero. Rathinirvedam fame Krishnachandran dubbed his voice for Kunchacko Boban. Recently Kunchacko Boban revealed that his father compelled him to dub this movie, but he does not give ear to that because he does not have much confidence. Krishnachandran has won the Kerala state film award for best dubbing artist for this movie.
7. Kunchacko Boban opened a hospital for autistic kids
In 2015, Kunchacko Boban has started a hospital named AL Fasht Medical Centre in Sharjah. It is a super speciality hospital for psychiatry especially for autistic children. Interestingly the wedding anniversary of Kunchacko Boban – Priya Kunchacko couple falls on World Autism Awareness Day (April 2).
