Take Off, the first feature film by editor Mahesh Narayanan, is widely considered to be the year’s best Malayalam film. The film’s plot is based on events and stars Parvathy Menon, Kunchako Boban, Fahadh Faasil, and Asif Ali.

During its theatrical release, Take Off faced stiff competition from blockbuster films like The Great Father, 1971 Beyond Borders, Sakhavu, and Puthan Panam.
But it held its own and finished its 50-day theatrical run with a bang. In memory of the late director Rajesh Pillai, Take Off was produced. Rajesh Pillai Films produce it in cooperation with investors Anto Joseph and Shebin Becker. Filmmaker Mekha Rajesh Pillai is also serving as the film’s executive producer.

On March 24, 2017, the film Take Off was released. Satyam Audios released the film’s VCD, DVD, and Blu-ray in the middle of 2017. In addition to her two Filmfare Awards for Best Actress – Malayalam and two Kerala State Film Awards for Best Actress, Parvathy also received a Special Jury Mention at the 65th National Film Awards. The Hindu ranked it among the top 25 Malayalam movies of the decade.
