Verdict of box office wars between Dileep and Manju Warrier
Dileep’s anticipated movie Kammara Sambhavam and Manju Warrier’s Mohanlal are releasing together on April 14. This is not the first time their movies are releasing together. Here are the final verdicts of box office wars between Dileep and Manju Warrier.
Punjabi House - Summer in Bethlehem
Dileep and Manju Warrier came face to face in Malayalam box office twice in 1998. Dileep-starrer blockbuster movie Punjabi House was released as an Onam release along with Summer in Bethlehem directed by Sibi Malayil starring Jayaram, Suresh Gopi, and Manju Warrier in lead roles. Punjabi house was directed by Rafi Mecartin and stars Dileep, Cochin Hanifa, Harisree Asokan, Lal and Mohini in the lead roles. Both movies were super hits. Eventually, Summer in Bethlehem became the 2nd and Punjabi House became the 3rd highest grossers of 1998.
Pranayavarnangal - Meenathil Thalikettu
Malayalam box office saw Dileep and Manju Warrier releasing their movies together for the first time in January 1998. Meenathil Thalikettu, directed by Rajan Sankaradi starring Dileep, Thilakan, Sulekha, Zeenath, and Jagathy Sreekumar in pivotal roles, was released in the first week of 1998. Pranayavarnangal directed by Sibi Malayil starring Suresh Gopi, Manju Warrier, Divya Unni and Biju Menon in lead roles was released two weeks later. Pranayavarnangal was well received by audiences and critics and became a super hit while Meenathil Thalikettu was a moderate success.
Ennum Eppozhum - Ivan Maryadaraman
In 2015, Ivan Maryadaraman starring Dileep and Ennum Eppozhum starring Manju Warrier were released together. Ivan Maryadaraman directed by Suresh Divakar was a remake of 2010 Telugu movie Maryada Ramanna and had Dileep and Nikki Galrani in lead roles. Ennum Eppozhum directed by Sathyan Anthikad had Mohanlal, Manju Warrier in the lead roles was released a week later. Ivan Maryadaraman turned out to be a flop at the box office with negative reviews from critics and audiences. Ennum Eppozhum opened to mixed reviews and became a hit but couldn’t live up to the expectations.
Jo and the Boy - Two Countries
Dileep and Manju had their release together recently in 2015. Dileep’s Two countries and Manju Warrier’s Jo and the Boy were released in Christmas season. Two countries directed by Shafi was a Romantic Comedy film and had Dileep, Mamta Mohandas, Mukesh, Aju Varghese, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Jagadish in the lead roles. Jo and the Boy directed by Rojin Thomas stars Manju Warrier and Master Sanoop in lead roles. Two Countries was well received by audiences and critics and became one of the highest grossing films in Malayalam while Jo and the Boy couldn’t perform well at the box office.
Ramaleela – Udaharanam Sujatha
Dileep and Manju had their release together last time in 2018. Ramaleela and Udaharanam Sujatha were those movies. Both movies are directed by debutants. Ramaleela, directed by Arun Gopy, was a blockbuster whereas Udaharanam Sujatha, directed by Phantom Praveen, was a superhit. Interestingly, both movies ran for 85 days on theaters.
