Joe Manganiello has officially filed for divorce from his wife, Sofia Vergara, after seven years of marriage.
Joe Manganiello lawyer, Laura Wasser, filed the divorce papers on Wednesday. According to the documents, Manganiello cites “irreconcilable differences” as their choice to split.
According to the divorce suit, Manganiello and Vergara signed a prenuptial agreement that said they could each keep any assets they got during their time together.
The documents also say they will split up on July 2, 2023. The first announced their split, and intention to divorce, on Monday, in a statement to Page Six.
We have made the difficult decision to divorce. As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
Last month, Vergara went to see Manganiello, 46, on the set of his new movie “Nonnas” with Vince Vaughn in Hoboken, New Jersey.
A source added: “Sofía and Joe have been growing apart for a while now and are taking some distance from each other to contemplate their future.”
Vergara and Manganiello began dating in 2014 after her engagement to businessman Nick Loeb ended.
Soon after that, the True Blood actor got Vergara’s phone number from her co-star on Modern Family, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and went to New Orleans to take her on a date. They went on to get engaged after six months of dating.
In November 2015, the couple got married in Palm Beach in front of 400 guests, including Vergara’s “Modern Family” co-stars Ariel Winter, Ed O’Neill, Eric Stonestreet, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Julie Bowen, Sarah Hyland, and Ty Burrell, as well as Manganiello’s “True Blood” co-stars Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer.
Vergara was previously married to the actor Joe Gonzalez from 1991 to 1993. They have one child together, a 31-year-old boy named Manolo Gonzalez Vergara.
