Malayalam actor Mohanlal conferred with Padma Bhushan
Mollywood Superstar Mohanlal, who is considered to be one of the most talented actors ever witnessed by Indian film industry, was conferred with the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award. Made his screen debut with the 1980 movie Manjil Virinja Pookkal, the veteran actor has appeared in around 350 films in various languages including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. He has won five national awards in various categories.
From Kerala, scientist Nambi Narayanan, renowned musician K G Jayan who is the father of actor Manoj K Jayan, archaeological expert K K Muhammed and swami Visudhananda, president of Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham, have been picked for the Padma awards this year, which was announced in the eve of 70th Republic day.
