Who Plays Your Favorite Disney Character In These Live Action Remakes?

Disney has been making live-action movies for a long time, even though many of its best-known films are animated. But in the 1980s and 1990s, Disney was already making new live-action shows for the world to watch. They have been making live-action versions of some of their old animated movies in the past few years.

Disney looks worldwide for the best actors to play the classic characters in each live-action remake. Disney’s mission has been an enormous success so far.

1. Moana

In April, Disney said they would work with Dwayne Johnson to make a live-action version of their 2016 animated musical hit “Moana.” Johnson wants to play the demigod Maui again, and he will also co-produce the movie through his Seven Bucks Productions. Moana’s voice actress, Auli’i Cravalho, will be an executive producer along with Scott Sheldon of Flynn Picture Co. The original screenwriter, Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller, will also be back to write the remake.

2. Little Mermaid

During the Oscars on March 12, the studio showed the first full trailer for the new live-action version of ‘The Little Mermaid.’ It took viewers under the sea to show off Halle Bailey as Ariel singing some impressive notes from ‘Part of Your World.’ It gave us our first good look at Javier Bardem as King Triton, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, and Melissa Mccarthy as Ursula, with her perfectly menacing cackle. Jacob Tremblay plays Flounder, Awkwafina plays Scuttle, and Daveed Diggs plays Sebastian in the movie. The long-awaited remake of the 1989 movie will hit theatres on May 26.

3. Pinocchio

The 1940 movie “Pinocchio” was based on the book “The Adventures of Pinocchio” by Italian author Carlo Collodi. “Pinocchio” is a remake of that movie. Tom Hanks will play Geppetto in the live-action remake coming out in 2022. Geppetto is a lonely woodcarver who makes a puppet named Pinocchio and wants him to be a real boy. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, a British child actor, gives Pinocchio’s voice. Joseph Gordon-Levitt gives Jiminy Cricket’s voice. Cynthia Erivo, Luke Evans, and Keegan-Michael Key are also in the movie. In December 2022, “Pinocchio” will be on Netflix.

5. Cinderella 2021

The new live-action version of “Cinderella” was put out by Amazon Prime Video. It is a modern take on the old fairy story, but reviews were mixed. Camila Cabello plays the main character, Ella, a seamstress with her own business called “Dresses by Ella.” She has bigger dreams than just getting married. Billy Porter plays the “Fabulous Godmother” Fab G, and Nicholas Galitzine plays Prince Charming in the movie. Idina Menzel plays the Stepmother, Minnie Driver is the Queen, and James Corden is a footman.

6. Snow White

Peter Dinklage talked about how fans have praised Disney for casting people of different races in movies like the upcoming remake of “Snow White.” Still, they miss the more significant point of how the old story portrays people with disabilities. “It surprised me a little that they were so happy to cast a Latina actress as Snow White. You still tell the story of ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.’ Step back and take a look at what you’re doing. “I don’t get it,” the actor said. But Disney heard him, and the next day they put out a statement saying they would be working with consultants to improve the remake. “To avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and talking to people in the dwarfism community. “After a long time in development, we’re looking forward to sharing more as the film moves into production,” a spokesman told The Hollywood Reporter.

7. Cruella (2021)

Cruella De Vil’s makeover by Emma Stone as a glam-punk character has been a huge hit. The 1970s-set live-action version of the animated classic “101 Dalmatians” is how Miss De Vil came to be. Stone had to fill big shoes since the animated movie had already been made into a live-action film in 1996, with Glenn Close as Cruella. This new backstory of young fashion designer Estella De Vil, whose obsession with dog fur gives her the nickname of a lifetime, was very well received.
