Kakegurui is a Japanese manga series that Homura Kawamoto writes. Tru Naomura does the series’ drawings. MAPPA made the anime version of the book, and it ran in Japan from July 1 to September 23, 2017. Besides that, a live-action drama version debuted in 2018.
This anime on Netflix is based on a Japanese manga with the same name, and it is one of the most famous anime on the platform. MAPPA does a great job with the series’ graphics and making. The second anime season called “Kakegurui xx,” was released on January 8 and ran from January 8 to March 26, 2019. It has two seasons with a total of 12 episodes each.
With such a dedicated fan base eagerly awaiting more, expectations were high for the arrival of Kakegurui: Season 3 by 2022. However, much to the surprise of fans, the studio chose to adapt the prequel manga, Kakegurui Twin, instead of continuing the main storyline. As the anticipation for the third season lingers, fans continue to wonder whether they will see a renewal or if their hopes will be dashed with news of cancellation.

Kakegurui Season 3 – Is It Officially Renewed Or Cancelled?
According to sources. There is no official news available regarding the renewal status of the show, either by Netflix or MAPPA. Even though the program airs on Netflix, it does not necessarily mean that Netflix has the final say in its renewal. While Netflix holds licensing rights for the series outside Japan, it does not have the authority to decide on its continuation.
The ultimate decision lies with MAPPA and the Japanese networks whether they are willing to move forward with the series or not. Nevertheless, let’s keep our hopes up that we will hear the renewal news sometime soon. However, it is worth noting that “Kakegurui Twins” was released on August 4th, 2022, which makes it less likely for a season 3 of the original “Kakegurui” series.
Kakegurui: All About
The story of Kakegurui is set at Hyakkou Private Academy. It is a high-class elite school where the wealthiest children in Japan go. But, funny enough, the order of the school is based on something other than how well the kids do in school or on any other quality. Instead, it is based on how good they are at gambling.
The kids in that school are ranked by how much money they give to the student council. The students who win the favour of the gambling committee gain popularity, status, and contacts. The unlucky ones who aren’t as famous get into debt, become house enslaved people, and take care of the whims and wants of the other students. The “pets” who can’t pay back their bills get “life schedules,” which will decide their futures because they have to pay back the debt with their lives.
Kakegurui Season 3: Plot
In the last episode of Kakegurui: Season 2, Yumeko and Sayaka had a hard-fought fight in the Tower of Doors. Yumeko won the game, which earned her the respect of Momobami Kirari, the head of the Student Council.
If it happens, Kakegurui: Season 3 will continue with the Student Council President Election Arc, showing Momobami putting her Presidency up for grabs to end Yumeko’s winning run. As for the next game, we can’t say for sure because the order of events in the manga differs from that in the series. Studio MAPPA used a completely new pattern, but even though that’s true, it’s still a great version that’s well put together.
