During the lockdown in 2020, common people, particularly migrant workers, faced numerous hardships. Even today, the memory of those terrifying times evokes shudders. Anubhav Sinha chose to depict this chilling period in his latest film. However, the movie has not lived up to the expectations and has struggled at the box office from day one. On Monday, the fourth day of its release, ‘Bheed’ is estimated to have earned only 20 lakhs, bringing the total earnings to a meager 1.95 crores. These figures are quite disheartening.

Anubhav Sinha’s Vision for the Film

Director Anubhav Sinha explained that ‘Bheed’ tells the story of “the most dangerous times that changed everything for humanity.” He decided to shoot the film in black and white to emphasize the stark scenes of social inequality during India’s lockdown. The film’s narrative is reminiscent of the experiences people faced during the 1947 partition of India. It captures the lives of those who lost everything in the blink of an eye when borders were drawn within the country.

The Star-studded Cast of ‘Bheed’

In addition to Rajkumar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, ‘Bheed’ features an ensemble cast, including Pankaj Kapoor, Ashutosh Rana, Diya Mirza, Virendra Saxena, Aditya Srivastava, Kritika Kamra, and Karan Pandit. The film is a joint production of Bhushan Kumar’s T-Series and Anubhav Sinha’s Banaras Media Works.
