Maitreyi ramakrishnan started acting when she was ten years old. Her first part was as arleen in a school play called “Footloose,” she did a great job with it. She started writing, directing, and producing plays for her acting classes when she was 12 years old. This is how she got her start as an actress. She also loved playing the piano. She took part in piano events at school and was always the best.

Ramakrishnan made her professional acting debut as Devi Vishwakumar, the protagonist, in the Netflix teen comedy streaming television series “Never Have I Ever.” She was selected by Mindy Kaling out of 15,000 candidates who had applied for an open casting call for the show in 2019. Ramakrishnan created her audition tape at a local library, using her mother’s camera.

In April 2020, “Never Have I Ever” premiered on Netflix. Ramakrishnan’s character, Devi Vishwakumar, an Indian-American Tamil high school student, is loosely based on Mindy Kaling. Ramakrishnan’s voice acting talents extended to the fifth incarnation of the My Little Pony franchise. She was revealed to voice the character Zipp Storm across various projects. The first project, a 2D animated short-form web series titled “My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale,” premiered on YouTube in early April. She also voiced the character for the CGI-animated Netflix series “My Little Pony: Make Your Mark,” which premiered in September following a special of the same name in May.

Looking ahead, a third special titled “My Little Pony: Bridlewood stock” is set to be released in June 2023, accompanied by the release of the six-episode second season.
