The Punisher Season 3: Is It Officially Renewed Or Cancelled?
The Punisher Season 3 was cancelled by Netflix back in February 2019. This is the end of Marvel and Netflix’s big-budget, many-series partnership, which began in 2013 with the news of four series and a Defenders limited series. Disney got back the license for all of the Marvel Netflix shows on March 1, 2022, and Netflix took them all down. At that time, Netflix addressed the cancellation in an official statement to Deadline.
โMarvelโs The Punisher will not return for a third season on Netflix,โ Netflix confirmed today to Deadline. โShow runner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come,โ the streamer added.
โWe are grateful to Marvel for five years of our fruitful partnership and thank the passionate fans who have followed these series from the beginning.โ
Even though the choice to not bring Punisher back for more had been talked about for weeks, Netflix and Marvel didn’t make it official until after Season 2, which started on January 18 and has 13 episodes, had been on the streaming service for a few weeks.
Since then, fans have hoped that the Netflix Marvel Universe figures will return. They finally got what they wanted when Charlie Cox played Daredevil again in Spider-Man No Way Home at the end of 2021. Around the same time, Vincent D’Onofrio also played the part of Kingpin in the Disney+ show Hawkeye.
When Marvel announced MCU Phases 5 and 6 at the San Diego Comic-Con in July, things got going. The head of Marvel, Kevin Feige said that Daredevil: Born Again will be a brand new 18-episode series. The show has already started filming, and it should be on Disney+ in the spring of 2024.
