Death Note is a lot of things, but at its core, it’s a game of cat-and-mouse between two of the most innovative figures ever seen on screen.
Our main character, the evil mastermind Light Yagami, who has a God complex, gets into a fight of wits with the famous detective L. They think they are the best way to bring justice to the world. Even if the premise sounds interesting, fans of the genre can be sure it doesn’t do the show credit. Death Note keeps you on the edge of your seat with your heart pounding in your palms, and the show provides in every way.
Some viewers might be disappointed by a few episodes after the first arc, based on which characters they choose to “kin” with, but the last two episodes make up for it. The show’s charm lies in its excellent finish. If you liked shows like “Money Heist,” “Dexter,” “Code Geass,” and “Sherlock Holmes,” then “Death Note” would be a good choice.
