Even though Yellowjackets season 2 didn’t have the famous pit girl scene that was teased at the beginning of season 1, the survivors did die of cannibalism in 1996.
They first ate Jackie (Ella Purnell), who was already dead, and then they ate Javi (Luciano Leroux), who died trying to save Natalie (Sophie Thatcher). The adult Yellowjackets got back together at Lottie’s (Simone Kessell) health center, where they faced the wild and each other.
Season 2 of Yellowjackets had some funny moments, like when Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) tried to lie to the cops that she was having an affair with Randy (Jeff Holman), but it was also very dark.
Shauna, played by Sophie Nélisse, lost her baby while the Yellowjackets turned against each other in both the past and the present.

Yellowjackets will have a third season
In December 2022, Yellowjackets season 3 was announced as per reports of Screenrant. This was three months before the start of season 2, in March 2023. A lot of people like the show, which is why Showtime President and CEO Chris McCarthy said they wanted to “maximize the momentum by fast-tracking season 3.”
White Collar writers Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson have said that they want White Collar to have five seasons (via Entertainment Weekly). Lyle stated that they are “still on track for that” and that they “don’t see this as being more than a five-season show.”
Production Status of Season 3 of Yellowjackets
Even though season 2 is over, there is still no date set for when Yellowjackets season 3 will be available. Since seasons 1 and 2 came out twelve and a half months apart, season 3 wouldn’t come out until August or September 2024 at the earliest.
The WGA writers’ strike, on the other hand, may have made this period longer. Lyle said in a tweet that the writers for Yellowjackets season 3 had only had one day together before the strike was revealed.
Because the co-creator of Yellowjackets supports the WGA and their work, they couldn’t start making season 3 of Yellowjackets until the WGA disagreement was over.
After all of that, it is now official that Yellowjackets season 3 won’t come out until 2025. This means that fans will have to wait even longer for the much-anticipated season.
Delays are frustrating, but they show how much the people who made the program care about making it good. The wait will be long, but it will be worth it if the final result is even better than the first one.

Speculation about when Yellowjackets Season 3 will come out
Deadline says that the third season of Yellowjackets will air on Paramount Plus in 2025. The news outlet revealed what many people already thought: the hit thriller is way behind schedule because of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) strikes that took up most of last year.
Co-creator Ashley Lyle wrote in May 2023 that Yellowjackets season 3 had only one day of pre-production done before it was put on hold until further notice. Production would begin again in September.
It wasn’t made clear when exactly 2025 we can expect new episodes, but since work on the show is now moving quickly, we hope to see it again in the first quarter.
What will happen in Yellowjackets Season 3?
RadioTimes says that the show’s writers are on strike right now, so we don’t know what the story of Yellowjackets might be.
But there is some good news: co-creator Ashley Lyle said that the first (and only) day they worked on the next set of shows was “amazing and creatively invigorating.” We’re sure they’ll have something good in store.

Many of the characters from Season 2 and Season 3 will be back for Season 3 of Yellowjackets.
Christina Ricci as Misty, Melanie Lynskey as Shauna, Tawny Cypress as Taissa, Lauren Ambrose as Van, Simone Kessel as Lottie, Sophie Nélisse as Shauna, Samantha Hanratty as Misty, and more have been confirmed to play parts in the show.
Warren Kole as Jeff, Sarah Desjardins as Callie, John Reynolds as Detective Saracusa, and Elijah Wood as Walter are some of the other characters who are expected to come back.
But it’s not clear if Juliette Lewis will come back as Natalie after her character died tragically in Season 2.
