Toy Story 5 Release Date
The release date for Toy Story 5 has been announced, letting fans know when Woody and Buzz Lightyear will be back in theaters.
Toy Story 4, which came out in 2019, was at first thought to be the last movie in Pixar’s long-running animation series that has made more than $3.3 billion worldwide.
But a year ago, Disney CEO Bob Iger said that a fifth movie had been given the go-ahead and was in the early stages of production at Disney.
Screenrant says that Toy Story 5 is set to come out in 2026, but not much else is known about it yet. It will be one of many Disney movies coming out over the next few years. Soon, we should have a more exact date.
Toy Story 5 Storyline
Even though the cast and characters for Toy Story 5 haven’t been officially announced, it’s hard to picture the movie without Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear and Tom Hanks as Woody.
Soon after the movie was announced, Allen tweeted, “See you soon Woody, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity.”
This was a hint that Buzz and Woody would be back. We’re going to a number 5 now! As far as the eye can see!” Pete Docter, the chief creative officer of Pixar, also said they would be back: “We have another Toy Story, so Woody and Buzz are back.”
When Toy Story 5 was announced, it caused a lot of debate, and fans wondered if it was needed after the great finish of Toy Story 4, which seemed to wrap up Buzz and Woody’s stories.
In reaction to the controversy, Docter defended the work on a fifth movie by saying that the follow-up could go in strange directions and surprise people. A lot about Toy Story 5 is still unknown, but it looks like people will be able to see the movie sometime in 2026.

What happened in Toy Story 4?
IGN states that in Toy Story 4, Bonnie makes a new toy called Forky out of the trash that Woody secretly left out for her on her first day of school. Forky has a psychological crisis and keeps trying to throw himself away because he thinks he is trash and not a real toy.
While on a road trip with Bonnie’s family, Woody jumps out of the RV to chase Forky. They find Bo’s lamp in an antique shop, but Woody meets Bo and her sheep at a playground after escaping the store without Forky to keep Gabby Gabby from taking his voice box, which is broken.
Meanwhile, Buzz gets lost at the fair and ends up as a prize toy. He and Ducky and Bunny manage to get away, though. Buzz and his friends meet up with Woody and Bo and work out a way to free Forky, who is being held hostage at the antique shop by Gabby.
Gabby makes a deal with Woody that he will give her his voice box in return for Forky. Gabby then finds a new owner in a lost childhood friend.
As Woody and Buzz get ready to go home, Buzz tells Woody that Bonnie is okay without him because she hasn’t noticed him at all during the movie and that he can live with Bo as a lost toy.
This makes Woody give Jessie his sheriff badge, putting her in charge of Bonnie’s room, and the two friends say their sad goodbyes.
Cast of Toy Story 5
As soon as Toy Story 5 was released, Tim Allen confirmed on Twitter/X that he would be back as Buzz Lightyear. He put up a picture of the famous Space Ranger and wrote, “See you soon, Woody. You’re a sad, weird little man, and I feel sorry for you.” We’re going to a number 5 now! As far as the eye can see!”

Allen told The Daily Mail in May 2023 that Toy Story 5 had been planned for a while before it was made public. He said, “Toy Story 5 had been laid down a while ago, but we just couldn’t get into it.” “Then Disney told everyone about it about two months ago.”
I’m now friends with everyone in Toy Story, especially Tom Hanks, who plays Woody the Cowboy. Because of this, I’m thankful to have these friends. I love that person. That story is great.
The voice of Woody in the first four Toy Story movies was done by Tom Hanks. He hasn’t said if he’ll play the cowboy again. The official cast list hasn’t been made public yet, even if he has.
